Even had a lovers tiff !!!
Welcome to the world of Tess the Welsh Springer Spaniel with stories about Tess and articles about the Welsh Springer Spaniel. The Welsh Springer Spaniel, or Welshie as they are often referred to by their owners, are wonderful dogs with a beautiful red and white coat and a lovely temperament and Tess is certainly a true Welsh Springer Spaniel – as you will see!

We first mentioned Flash back in February 2007. He is a very powerful, muscular black and white English Pointer and has the sweetest nature.
Tess has made many friends but without doubt her heart was lost to Flash from the moment she met him. Understandable as he is easily the most handsome dog on the block. What taste! And the feeling was instantly reciprocated.
When his family moved away she was heartbroken, so we were very excited to be invited to visit recently.
Would they recognise each other and would they feel the same way???
Well it was an interesting weekend. On first arrival Flash was very excited to see Tess and followed her everywhere. She, on the other hand, decided to play hard to get and was more interested in investigating the wonderful new garden, huge with woodland to explore, and a new house to nosy at. In fact she got very cross with him as he pressed his nose up to her private ‘’bits’’ and told him off in no uncertain terms. Poor Flash – his ego was definitely dented. But his behaviour was impeccable and he took it like a man!
But come day two and all that changed. And what a turn round. Now the little madam was only too happy to have all his attention and it was just like the old days. I guess she was just settling down and needed to feel comfortable in her new surroundings. They are so delightful together, having gentle tender moments interspersed with manic play fighting games. They were so sweet and kept us entertained all weekend. Without a doubt they remembered each other and will be friends forever.
You see true love never dies!!!!

"The birthday twins"
You haven’t heard from us for a while as it’s been a busy summer, but on Monday it was a big day for Tess – she celebrated her 2nd birthday.
Gosh has that time flown by. And when I think what hard work the puppy months were and now she’s a big girl, all grown up. Well almost!!
She’s still a lively little thing with lots of character, but is so much more mature and manageable, and life for me is more fun and far less stressful now.
Believe me it does get easier with time (and patience!).
We spent the day with her brother, Wilby and his owners, which was lovely. We had a cold but sunny walk and lots of play with her new Frisbee, which replaced the old, chewed one. Then back home for a yummy treat and more play. They still get excited when they’re together, but do have moments of rest, unlike in the early days. And boy, did they both sleep well that night. Come to think of it, she was quite calm the following day as well – perfect!
It will be interesting to see how she develops over the coming years. It has made me reflect on how much joy a dog brings into your life, plus a little stress, frustration and commitment, but I guess its worth it. She brings us so much pleasure and we couldn’t love her more.
Our darling little Tess.
